Snaidero's Opera Kitchen by Michele Marcon won the 2015 GOOD DESIGN Award, the world's oldest and most prestigious recognition of design excellence, bestowed by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Opera was chosen among several thousand submissions from the world’s leading manufacturers and industrial design firms, representing over 47 countries. Both elegant and practical, the kitchen features dramatic volumes that easily become part of the architecture of the space. The design brings back the handle as an important aesthetic and functional element and uses customizable open shelving and wide single-door upper cabinets to develop vertically and make the most of the space while staying visually interesting.
The Opera kitchen is a classic. A kitchen inspired by the passion for materials, the love for construction accuracy and simplicity, and a strong sense of proportions.
Opera recrafts the kitchen into an architectural space and is built upon Snaidero’s long tradition of design innovation with increased user functionality.
“Opera represents the needs of a more seasoned perspective, satisfied simple characteristics that at the same time are strong and very modern,” says designer Marcon.
Opera plays with the wide range of available materials: from melamine-faced, laminated, polished and matte lacquered surfaces to the most refined options of mica-based lacquered, metallic finishing and woods. With over 120 solutions for endless design possibilities, Opera is able to interpret, with style, Snaidero’s great manufacturing abilities.
